💜 Remembering Orquidea, Madre Mía 💜

October 28th, 2001, was the darkest day of my life. 🌑

Orquidea, madre mía, was murdered at the hands of her husband. A far too common occurrence within BIPOC communities. 💔

Tbh, I’m exhausted from shouting, “Why me?” and weary of pondering, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Domestic Violence is an EPIDEMIC. SAY IT OUT LOUD! EPIDEMIC! 📢 This epidemic was birthed from YT Suprema/y, Genoc/de, Patriarchy, and more. Recognize! 🙌

I’ve spent years delving into academic journals, case studies, books, videos, conferences—whatever I could find—trying to make sense of this society we live in. Excuse my French, but esta mierda está jodida. 😤 This situation we’re navigating is suffocating. Years of study have opened my eyes to countless truths, too many to capture here.

What I’ve learned is that we’re truly stuck in a Matrix. Plain and simple. We’re balls-deep in this World of Warcraft game we call “society,” and we often don’t even notice. I didn’t. But now I do. I hope you’ll join me on this life-long journey so that together, we can reshape our world. 🌍✨

Oh, and another thing. Enough with the “nice people don’t fight.” GIRL BYE! 🙅‍♀️ Our permanent liberation lies in embracing ALL of our humanity—the full spectrum of our emotions, feelings, and lived experiences.

Babyboi, did you forget that you are your own avatar? Your mind and body can be ANYTHING they aspire to be and do WHATEVER they choose. Stick with me. Breathe. Allow yourself to feel. Radically accept. Move tf ON, amor! 💖 (Someone needed to hear this, badly.)

Every year on this date (October 28th), for the rest of my life, I will publish a creative project in tribute to my beautiful late mother, Orquidea. 🌹 I’m determined to end Domestic Violence with my bare hands if I must, and I’ll do it through art! 🎨 Join me, mi gente!
